Money,  Money, Money!

We spent a lot of time in the fall working with money.  The kids love the game Money Bags, as well Snack Shop, where they get to be the owner of their own shop and sell delicious food to their friends!

City Life and Country Life

These second and third graders learned about life on a farm and life in a big city.  They also practiced using money and making change.  They realized that in the city, many workers travel from place to place.  In the country, farmers have many different jobs.  Growing vegetables is hard work.  Students practiced buying and selling food from their farm stands. 

Plants

The second graders spent the fall learning about plants: how they grow, what their different parts are called, and which parts of the plant that eat.  They were able to sequence the events in the story of The Little Red Hen and acted the story out, complete with masks!  At the end of the unit, students created riddles describing a fruit or vegetable.

Introducing the U.S.A.!

Mrs. Ramming has been working on map skills, using an atlas and learning directions with the compass rose.  These third graders are learning about the regions of the United States, the various biomes and important people in our country's history.  Recently, they studied Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr.
